2.1.1 Narrative
For the period from November 3-10, 2014 EPA continued shipping of waste material off site.
2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
On Monday, November 3, 2014, one load (~7.1 tons) of scrap metal was transported off site for recycling at the PSC Metals, Inc. facility in Canton, Ohio. Last load of scrap metal transported off site for disposal today. A total of 10 loads (~61.2 tons) of scrap metal was transported off site for recycling. ERRS began working 8-hour days because of day-light savings. ERRS reduced work-force this week. Wood posts were purchased for subsequent installation of asbestos warning signs on site. ERRS conducted a site walk to check for any remaining TDD related issues not completed
On Tuesday, November 4, 2014, ERRS continued to decontaminate and demobilize equipment. ERRS began the construction of an earthen berm to the Site access from Berger Road. ERRS removed all tools and equipment from the worker trailer and convex box in preparation for demobilization.
On Wednesday, November 5, 2014, ERRS continued to decontaminate and demobilize equipment. Worker trailer was de-energized in preparation for demobilization from Site. ERRS completed the construction of the earthen berm at entrance to site at Berger Road.
On Thursday, November 6, 2014, ERRS continued to decontaminate and demobilize equipment. ERRS install asbestos posts for asbestos warning signs on posts and the partially demolished kiln building. START demobilized from Site at noon.
On Friday, November 7, 2014, US EPA OSC and the majority of the ERRS demobilized from the Site.
On Monday, November 10, 2014, ERRS demobilized the remaining equipment and site trailer.
2.1.3 Enforcement Activities, Identity of Potentially Responsible Parties (PRPs)
The PRP has been identified and appropriate enforcement actiivities have been initiated by the local and State authorities.
