EPA Region 10 was notified by the Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) of a sheen on the Columbia River in Wenatchee, WA at 8:00 AM March 18, 2017. The source of the sheen was unknown. The sheen was discovered and reported to local 911 dispatch by recreational river users at approximately 5:00 PM March 17, 2017. EPA Region 10 formed unified command with Ecology and Chelan County Emergency Management.
