On 5 May 2016, A-1 Custom Packaging, a warehouse facility suspected to be containing unknown pesticides, herbicides, and red dye diesel, caught fire. As a result of the fire and subsequent firefighting efforts, site runoff contained residues and chemical products from those stored on the facility. This contaminated runoff entered into a local tributary, and then downstream into Spring Branch where wildlife impacts were witnessed.
