On January 21, US Coast Guard Sector Honolulu contacted ERS regarding a jet fuel release on Sand Island in Honolulu, Hawaii. A facility operated by Aircraft Services International Group (ASIG) had reported a release of 42,000 gallons of jet fuel from a leaking tank. ASIG is owned by a consortium of airlines and provides jet fuel to the airline facilities at Honolulu International Airport.
The facility is situated within 50 yards of Ke'ehi boat harbor and is adjacent to Ke'ehi Lagoon.
