The site is at the location of the formerly known B & D Texaco retail fuel sales facility and convenience store located at 363 Highway 20 in Ashton, Idaho, at the intersection of US Highway 20 and Walnut. Initial tests have indicated that one 12,000 gallon underground storage tank (UST) and three pump housings are leaking. Subsequent testing has shown that the tank is not leaking, however State and Federal inspectors witnessed releases to on site sumps. The station has removed all of the gasoline from the 12,000 gallon UST. Gasoline was detected in on-site and off-site monitoring wells by IDEQ contactors. Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ) and EPA's Tank Programs have required the operator to cease operations. During an early May inspection at the facility, IDEQ noticed sheen on surface water in ditch line and wetlands located downgradient from the site. IDEQ requested EPA Emergency Response Unit's assistance with assessing the pollution incident.
