The Bandera Road Groundwater Plume Site consists of a ground water plume contaminated with perchloroethylene (PCE) also known as tetrachloroethene, and trichloroethene (TCE) originating from an unidentified source. The Site was identified by an assessment conducted by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Voluntary Cleanup Program. The investigation identified the presence of PCE and TCE in concentrations above the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL). The MCL for PCE and TCE is 5.0 parts per billion (ppb)for both. The water is drawn from the Edwards Aquifer. The Edwards Aquifer is a sole-source karst aquifer for central Texas. The concentration of PCE in six private drinking water wells ranges up to 111.6 ppb. TCE in one well was detected at 5.76 ppb.
