EPA was notified of a 27,000-gallon diesel fuel spill form Bayside Fuels, into Gravesend Bay, Brooklyn, NY. The incident occurred at approximately 0245 hours on March 30, 2017. The oil was released during a transfer from a barge to an above ground tank (bunkered – covered with soil). The incident location is 1776 Shore Parkway, Gravesend Bay, Brooklyn, NY.

OSC Budroe and OSC Ouedraogo arrived on Site at approximately 1630 hours. The incident is located in USCG jurisdiction, however, the USCG FOSC had departed the Site just prior to EPA’s arrival. EPA met with the NYSDEC representatives who were providing oversight of the Responsible Party’s cleanup contractor, Miller Environmental.
