At 0940hours EPA received a Shreveport News report of an explosion and a fire from a sour water tank at the Calumet Refinery in Shreveport, Louisiana. START was dispatched to provide air monitoring support and investigate the response. The Shreveport Fire Department reports that no residents were evacuated. After application of foam supressant by the Fire Departmnet the fire was extinguished around 0945 hours.

When the responsible party failed to report the event the EPA notified the National Response Center (NRC#888667). The RP later reported it to the NRC (NRC# 888669).
