ERNS REPORT FOR June 8, 2019 NRC# 1248261 – TDEC Request for Assistance, 682 Lebanon Highway, Carthage, TN (East of Nashvlle): On Friday June 7, 2019 one of the former partners of a dormant plating operation attempted to clear out the facility by placing waste materials into an uncovered/unlined roll off dumpster for disposal. Recent rains flushed the dumpster and forced leaching of chromic contamination. TDEC responders were addressing improper waste practices when they determined they need assistance from EPA. TDEC notified Steve Spurlin, R4 OSC Outposted in Jackson, TN. OSC Brian Englert responded late Friday night and arrived on Site early Saturday morning. TDEC has remained involved to ensure a competent transition. OSC Englert directed the owner and his contractor, regarding stabilization tactics to contain the contamination to the Site and provide for appropriate disposal.
