On September 2, 2013 a fire was called in to the Traverse City Fire Department at 1047. The fire was located at the Century Sun Metal Treating facility at 2411 West Aero Park Court in Traverse City Michigan. By 1206 Traverse City Fire Department personnel were able to contain the fire to the vacuum department and save the remaining portions of the building. Approximately 6,000 gallons of 50/50 propylene glycol/water coolant solution was released in the building and was observed by Traverse City Fire Department personnel entering the site storm water system. Mitchell Creek, a tributary to East Grand Traverse Bay, is located approximately 3,500 feet east of the Century Sun facility.
