On November 29, 2013, a call was received from the Durango Fire and Rescue Authority requesting EPA assistance for a mercury spill at a detox center at 1125 Three Springs Blvd., Durango, CO 81301. (NRC Report# 1067089). A patient arrived with a backpack containing elemental mercury which leaked in the facility. The fire department is in the process of evacuating patients and staff and will secure the building until EPA arrives.
