The 17-acre Grandview Mine and Mill (Site) is located near Metaline Falls, Pend Oreille County, Washington. Mining and milling activities were conducted at the Site between the late 1920s through 1964. After operations were discontinued, most of the mining and milling equipment was removed from the Site; however, several buildings remain along with scattered accumulations of development rock or unprocessed ore and flotation tailings. The contaminants of concern in the soil include metals and semi-volatile organic compounds.

An Engineering Evaluation/Cost Analysis (EE/CA) was prepared by the Potentially Responsible Parties. The EE/CA summarizes available data on the characteristics of the Site, evaluates the actual or potential human health and ecological threats posed by the Site contaminants, evaluates a limited number of cleanup alternatives appropriate for the Site, and recommends a cleanup alternative to achieve Site cleanup goals. The EE/CA is available for public review and comment for 30 days beginning 1 January 2011. Following public comment and evaluation of the EE/CA, EPA will select the final cleanup alternative.

The EE/CA and supporting documents are below.
