On October 10, 2011 the Hormel Foods plant in Tucker Georgia experienced a release of approximately 1000 gallons of a mixture of various greases and water from their “EQ” tank due to overfill. The spill flowed towards a hill, which empties into Burnt Fork Creek. Facility personnel responded by booming storm water flow points and preventing the grease from entering the creek. The spill was stopped by discontinuing filling the tank. OSC Ball responded to confirm the release was secure, ensure the clean-up and conduct an SPCC inspection. Hepaco arrived on scene and began clean-up operations. Once SPCC inspection was complete and gross oil removal finished, OSC Ball demobed. Response complete.
