R4 Duty Officer received notification of spill incident at one of the drilling batteries located the southeastern oil fields of Kentucky in Leslie County at 1600-hrs on August 15, 2014. R4 Phone Duty Officer contacted Reporting Party (Mr. Huff) to gather more information regarding the NRC report. The incident response by the RP was in the early phase and minimum details beyond NRC report were available at the time of the first call. Impact on water was confirmed and initial spill estimate was "6-BBLS". R4 phone duty contacted KYDEP to obtain incident information. R4 Duty Officer advised KYDEP of R4's R1 deployment and forward him contact information for R1 and to coordinate response and incident location with R1.
