In response to NRC Report #874319, and at the request of Savannah Hazmat, OSC Sims and START mobilized to the Kidney Specialist Savannah Clinic, 500 E. 66th Street, Savannah, GA to provide air monitoring in an incident involving the release of elemental mercury inside the clinic. The origin of the release was from a dismantled Sphygmomanometer. The Hazmat crew is on scene and has recovered and staged the mercury but lacks the specialized equipment needed to provide confirmation screening for mercury vapors. The OSC and START was completing another unrelated cleanup in a nearby town when the request was received. Please refer to the attached POLREPS for more detailed information regarding this response.
