On 2/9/2011 at approximately 0628hrs (eastern) a Norfolk Southern train reportedly derailed 17 cars near Livingston, AL. Of the derailed cars, an estimated 5 tank cars carrying hazardous materials were involved. Various parties reported conflicting information on whether two full cars of chlorine were derailed, but there were no reports that any tanks had ruptured or any materials had leaked. EPA Alabama Outpost OSC Ullock was deployed to the event to oversee response operations.
