At 1:38 pm on May 3, 2016, an estimated 200 bbl oil spill in Luling, TX was reported to the NRC (#1146834). The report was made by the neighboring property owner, not the PRP (Luling Oil and Gas). Reportedly, the crude oil was released from a tank battery due to an overfill. The oil released to a stock tank (pond) and travelled to a tributary of West Fork Plum Creek. EPA informed TCEQ and RRC of the spill and will continue to coordinate with local authorities and the PRP. Response activities are ongoing on-site and OSC Martin and START have been deployed.
Site Drainage flows into a local stock pond located adjacent to the West Fork of Plum Creek. This creek flows into the San Marcos River; thence to Guadalupe River, which meet the definition of "navigable waters" of the United States (US) as defined in Section 502(7) of the Federal Water Pollution Control Action (FWPCA).
