Covered tractor trailer carrying 40,000 lbs of acrylic acid in 55 DMs ran 200 yards off of I-20 near Livingston, AL into the back-waters of the Sucarnoochee River. One drum broke through the trailer wall and landed in the water. Several drums in the trailer are believed to be leaking. Diesel also leaked from the saddle tanks. Local Fire Department initially kept all responders back due to heavy acid fumes. RP hired response contractor SWS to conduct level 'A' entry to stabilize release and recover the drums. ADEM SOSC Couch, EPA OSC Adams, and EPA START mobilized to conduct air monitoring and oversight of response activity.
