A Unified Command has been established consisting of the CG, TGLO, TCEQ, Texas City Fire Department, Texas City Police Department, Office of Emergency Management, Texas Department of Transportation, and the Galveston County Office of Emergency Management in response to a report of a 6000 barrel gasoline pipeline (NRC #968387) leak from a Magellan Midstream pipeline stretching from Texas City to Pasadena. The command post is located at Texas City EOC.

The pipeline leak occurred in a creek which runs into Moses Lake. The leak has been secured and at this point there has been no indication that Moses Lake has been contaminated. The only contamination observed at this point is 3/4 of a mile away from Moses Lake. An overflight has been scheduled for this morning. Garner Environmental has been hired and has boomed the entrance to Moses Lake and is currently conducting air monitoring.

An evacuation of approximately 30 homes and 1 daycare has been ordered. The 6000 barrel figure is a worse case discharge estimate. Soil and groundwater contamination are a major concern at this point.
