The Murray Laundry was a large scale, industrial laundry facility which operated for approximately 50 years and was abandoned in 1977. A private environmental assessment conducted in 1999 discovered a 265-gallon underground storage tank that was once used to store PCE and appeared to have been leaking. Although the underground tank was removed in 2001, several studies have indicated that significant PCE contamination remains in the soil in the proximity of where the tank was located..
