In late August 2020 an employee at the Ticaboo Off-shore Marina and Resort reportedly over-filled a diesel tank. It was shortly thereafter discovered that the secondary containment had a faulty seal around a pipe intrusion. On August 31, 2021 an NRC report was made that 700-1000 gallons of diesel was discharged to the ground. No impacts to waters of the US were reported, although an intermittent stream, Hanson Creek, lies adjacent to the facility. The UDEQ took the lead in overseeing the response and there was no direct EPA involvement at that time.

However, subsequent to that action the Utah Fire Marshall's Office received several citizens complaints that the spill was larger in size and impact than initially reported. The Fire Marshall's Office requested EPA to investigate the discharge prior to the anticipated Spring snowmelt in 2021. EPA deployed two On- Scene Coordinators (OSC) the Site on February 22, 2021 to provide oversight.
