During the afternoon of Monday July 19th, KDEP SOSC Robbie Francis called EPA Region 4 Duty Officer to ask for assistance with the assessment and recovery of orphaned containers following significant flooding that took place in Pike County, Kentucky over the weekend. The area received approximately 4 to 7 inches of rain in a 5 hour period. The Governor declared a State of Emergency on Sunday July 18th. FEMA representatives are en route. OSC Matthew Huyser was dispatched with START Contractor TTEMI to begin assessment activities and determine additional resource needs.
