The EPA Region 7 Emergency Response Program has been providing pre-planning support for air monitoring and a Common Operating Picture for air monitoring data during the 2026 FIFA World Cup events that will occur in the Kansas City Metro area. Activities will be transitioned during the next Operational Period to the Event Phase as air monitoring equipment are deployed for monitoring at World Cup events in the Kansas City area.

The June/July, 2026 Fan Fest location at Liberty Memorial will be the main venue focus for the events that EPA’s

air monitoring activities will support. Missouri Department of Natural Resources is covering air monitoring

operations at the Riverside facility. The Mid-America Regional Council HAZMAT team,  primarily the Kansas City,

Missouri HAZMAT/ Civil Support Teams will cover the Truman Sport Complex/Arrowhead Stadium.

Region 7 personnel will oversee the deployment of stationary air monitors around Fan Fest venue and monitor data on-site and remotely. The stationary air monitoring data will be incorporated into a dashboard to support establishing a common operating picture during scheduled events beginning on June 3, 2026.
