The Site is located at 76 Park Street, Rockland, Plymouth County, MA., in a predominantly residential area. The site is a 1.15-acre property and formerly contained a 2-story warehouse building, which was partially destroyed by a fire, and then razed to minimize further risks from the damaged structure. The burned debris is covered by polyethylene sheeting and spread over an approximately 26,300 square foot area and ranges in depth from 2 to 5 feet deep in various locations.

A Preliminary Assessment/Site Investigation has revealed that the primary hazardous substances in the burned debris include, but are not limited to, metals, SVOCs and friable asbestos. These are “hazardous substances” as defined by Section 101(14) of CERCLA and 40 CFR § 302.4 and are a health threat to anyone walking on, traveling by or living near the Site.
