On July 16, 2024, the Utah's State Fire Marshal contacted EPA and requested EPA assistance with a jar of mercury located in the garage of a private residence in Roy, Utah.  The property owner reported that the jar of mercury is approximately 50 years old and that the container is intact. No other mercury or chemicals were reported.

EPA Region 8 deployed a Federal On-Scene Coordinator and support contractors to the incident on July 17, 2024. The Team did not detect any mercury vapors of concern in the residence, collected the jar of mercury for disposal and demobilized.
