An acetylene cylinder failed at Southwest Industrial Gases setting off a series of uncontrolled explosions and a resulting fire which resulted in a 1/2 mile evacuation and a fire. The evacuation affected Interstates 35 and 30 southwest of downtown Dallas.

The site is located in the 500 block of Industrial Boulevard, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.

There are reports of at least three workers injured. There are no reported fatalities.

The cause of the cylinder failure is unknown at this time. Workers were filling cylinders on the loading dock at the time of the accident

Dallas Fire and Rescue is currently attempting to extinguish the fire. Damage assessments are on going. Air monitoring is being performed by Dallas Fire and Rescue and EPA START contractors.
