The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation had requested EPA Region 2 assistance in the transport and disposal of radioactive materials which had been discovered in a private residence in Saranac Lake NY. The materials were secured and relocated to the Saranac Lake Department of Public Works yard, where EPA OSC and ERRS mobilized and removed the materials on September 9-10, 2015.

The materials included Thorium Nitrate, Uranyl Acetate, Uranyl Nitrate, Uranium ore and Americium 241.
