On January 10, 2004, USEPA ERS and ERT-W responded to a release of mercury at a residential property at 1400 Saylor Way, Las Vegas, NV. A 17-year old male had been playing with the mercury for an at least 2 months. The site was identified to Clark Co. Health Districts after the 17-year old was identified as a victim of severe acute mercury poisoning. The victim was reported playing with over a quart of mercury and contaminated his grandmother's home, backyard patio, pool and the sidewalk in front of the house. A CERCLA removal was subsequently conducted to decontaminate the residence, sidewalk and demolish the patio and pool.
