Southern Skimmer is a small boat manufacturer located in a Marine Industrial Park in Beaufort, Carteret County, North Carolina. Approximately 100 55-gallon drums of acetone and waste acetone were discovered on-site during a RCRA inspection. Some of the containers were open, leaking and bulging. EPA Outposted OSC Ken Rhame was contacted by the State, after the facility was unable to comply with the terms of a Notice of violation. EPA OSC Ken Rhame contacted Telephone Duty Officer to initiate an emergency response to stabilize the Site.
