On May 26, 2017 EPA initiated an emergency response near the former Steel Ceilings Site in Coshocton, Ohio at the request of the Ohio EPA.

Ohio EPA has been tracing a subsurface plume of trichloroethylene (TCE) from an the former Steel Ceilings property located at 500 N. 2nd Street. Recent testing detected TCE in indoor air above Ohio EPA’s action level in several nearby residences. Ohio EPA has installed several sub-slab depressurization systems in private dwellings, but the scope of the potential extent of the TCE impact in additional residences exceeds the State’s available resources. Ohio EPA requested the site be transitioned to EPA.
