The Taylor Industrial Services Site is an abandoned manufacturing facility (approximately 80 acres in size with a 300,000 square foot manufacturing building) located in Mount Gilead, Ohio. Ohio EPA performed an inspection on the property in May 2012 and discovered abondoned wates in over 500 small containers, 200 drums, underground storage tanks, miscellaneous other containers, and machine pits that were filled with a petroleum material. Analytical results indicated that much of the waste was hazardous (chlorinated oils, flammable, caustic) and referred the site to the US EPA.
The site formarlly operated as the HPM manufacturing facility (since the late 1800s)until 2003 when it was sold as part of a bankruptcy and became Taylor's Industrial Services. Taylor Industrial Services went bankrupt in January, 2010 and the site has been empty since then. US EPA obtained an access warrant to conduct the removal action on April 1, 2013.
