EPA RCRA division and GAEPD notified EPA’s Emergency Response Center of a facility located in Columbus, GA where approximately 40 drums were left to the elements and in poor condition. The location of the leaking drums was described to be 100 feet from a creek. The drums exhibited signs of leaking, some were missing bungs and there was inadequate site security. GAEPD asked for EPA assistance in mitigating the threat posed from the drums. OSC Andrews was deployed; OSC Jordan Garrard will be swapping with Dave as R1 this afternoon and will continue site operations.
