On the evening of 12May2014 the Chattooga County EMA reported an uncontrolled release of diesel fuel from a construction site into Town Creek. Local responders initiated temporary containment measures to prevent further migration of the spill down-stream. The source of the fuel is a 1000-gal above ground storage tank. R4 Duty Officer dispatched R2 and deployed ERRS on the morning of 13May2014 to further support GAEPD and local responders in recovery/mitigation efforts. An additional OSC was deployed to implement shoreline clean-up and assessment team (SCAT) team to detail the impact of the spill in Town Creek. Approximately 3-miles of creek may have been affected by the spill.
