On February 7, 2012 a train owned by Union Pacific Railroad derailed approximatly 15 miles east of Del Rio, TX. It was report to the National Response Center at 1005 and assigned incident report # 1002329. Approximately 30 cars derailed, some containing hazardous materials. EPA has deployed EPA OSC Bernier and their START contractor to the scene.

Upon arriving on-scene, it was determined that the derailed and affected tankcars containing hazadous materials or oil were not fully compromised and no releases or spills occurred. EPA continued monitoring activities until they were uprighted and secured.
