The Voluntary Purchasing Site is one of the Libby Legacy sites.
According to an EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices, 48,448 tons of vermiculite ore from the Libby mine were shipped to this site between March 1980 and September 1985. Voluntary Purchasing is a cooperative that has operated at this location since 1974 and is still in business today.
EPA Region 6 is planning an assessment of the site that will include, soil, air and dust samples. The current plan is to complete the assessment in the spring or summer of 2016.
