On 10-17-04, NRC was notified (NRC#738626)of a discharge of an unknown amount of oil and salt water from an on-shore oil production facility located in Bowie, Montague County, Texas. The NRC contacted the R6 EPA Pone Duty OSC who dispatched the START-2 technical contractor. Cause of spill was a faulty float valve in the oil/water separator, which caused an overflow of approximately barrels into the adjacent creek. PRP led the clean up by constructing two earthen dams, washing the creek and collection of released material.
