An explosion and fire occured at the Air Liquide America Specialty Gasses facility in West Baton Rouge, LA at approximately 10:30am on May 21,2012. Local Fire Departments and the Louisiana State Police responded immediately. The LSP initiated a 1 mile evacuation around the facility and closed down a section of Highway 190. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality responded and began air monitoring for both Particulates and Volatile Organics. EPA Region 6 FOSC Bernier and START Contractors are mobilizing to the site to assist with air monitoring activities.
