At 0315, August 12, 2019, BNSF reported a derailment of 5 locomotives at MP 88.1 on the BNSF Oregon Sub Trunk Line just north of Trout Creek, north of Madras, Oregon. This occurred at about 0230 in the morning. All locomotives are upright, but one fuel tank has been ruptured. Crews on scene confirmed that one tank has lost all it contents, 4000+ gallons of diesel. A second fuel tank was punctured and leaking diesel. Total potential volume could be two fuel tanks (total of 8000 to 10,000 gallons). Trout Creek is about 200 to 500 feet from the spill location, which flows into the Deschutes River, neither has not been impacted. NRC and Clean Harbors are en route and expected to be on scene at about 0800.
