On September 20, 2010, a tanker truck hauling unleaded gasoline ran off the road and overturned. The truck was owned by Brownfield Oil Company of Moberly, Missouri.

Haz-Mat teams from Wentzville and St. Charles County responded. The driver was unharmed, but the tanker was upside down. The Missouri Department of Transportation responded and dumped two loads of sand downgradient to slow the flow of gasoline which was seeping from the tanker.

The potentially responsible party contracted with Kiesel Environmental to respond and off-load the gasoline from the tanker and cleanup the spill. The tanker was off-loaded, uprighted, and hauled off-site by late evening on September 20, 2010. Excavation and stockpiling of contaminated soil began on September 21, 2010.
