Via correspondence dated May 18, 2015, United States Senator Mark Warner forwarded a constituent complaint and third party environmental assessment report regarding the Catlett Lumber Yard Site in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Based on consultation with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and review of their site file, the OSC performed a windshield survey of the site on June 26, 2015.
The site historically stored above and below ground storage tanks and drums containing primarily diesel and other petroleum type products. It is unknown if CERCLA listed hazardous substances have been stored on site. There is no report of an ongoing release of oil or CERCLA hazardous substances from this site at this time. The OSC will initiate a removal site evaluation to determine if a CERCLA time critical removal is warranted.
