On February 5, 2005, a tractor trailer owned by Logistics International-Georgia was traveling southbound on I-81 through Augusta County, Virginia when the brakes on the truck caught fire. The driver pulled off the road and was able to disconnect the tractor from the trailer; however, the trailer shortly caught fire. The driver contacted 911 and emergency crews responded. The bill of lading on the truck indicated the following materials were being transported:

1 55-gallon drum Silver Nitrate
1 400 lb. drum Corrosive Solid N.O.S. (sodium hydroxide)
4 55-gallon drums Corrosive Liquid N.O.S. (contains nitric acid and sodium bichromate)
2 55-gallon drums DOT Non-Regulated Material (contains mineral spirits)
4 55-gallon drums Corrosive Liquid N.O.S. (contains nitric acid and phosphoric acid)
