On May 17, 2010, an anonymous report was made to the NRC about an oil spill that occurred in Port Lavaca, TX. The NRC has assigned the report #940488. The Texas General Land Office has confirmed that oil has impacted Chocolate Bayou. It is estimated that 200-400 barrrels of oil was discharged. EPA has dispatched OSC Adams and EPA contractors to the incident.

The oil spill was contained to the creek and Chocolate Bayou over a stretch of approximately 3 miles. There was no apparent impact to the downgradient Lavaca Bay. RP contractors are responding to the spill, with direct oversight by TGLO.
