EPA responded to complaints from local residents of St John concerning exposure to contaminants from a smoke plume emanating from the burning landfill on Tortola in the British Virgin Islands (BVI).

EPA notified the US Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) that air sampling would be conducted in the Coral Bay area of St John, USVI.

EPA utilized ERT and REAC to conduct air sampling to determine the exposure of St John residents to contaminants in the smoke plume.
