EPA conducted a time critical removal action at the United Community Hospital site in July and August of 2013 (see www.epaosc.org/unitedcomm). As we were completing that action, we discovered that 5 full drums had been abandoned in the field behind the facility while we were off site. OSC Nightingale and an ERRS crew mobilized to the site on August 15, 2013 to secure and characterize the drums, and arrange for their proper disposal.
