An estimated 2,500 gallons of used fryer oil was released from a semi-tanker which overturned at the intersection of M-31 & M-68 in Alanson, Michigan. The used fryer oil reached the Crooked River, which connects Crooked Lake to Burt Lake, impacting approximately 3.9 miles of the waterway.

The trucking company took responsibility and hired contractors to clean up the spill.
