At 1740 hours on October 29, 2007, a single locomotive derailed due to unknown causes. This derailment caused a 4 inch gash in the fuel tank. The release of diesel fuel went onto the ground. Approximately, 600 gallons were released. Workers at the scene were able to get the leak stopped. A cleanup contractor was called to the site and placed oil absorbent booms and pads around the spill area and began emptying the remaining fuel from the tank. U.S. EPA responded to provide oversite of the cleanup activities. Once the fuel had been removed from the tank, the locomative was lifted back onto the track.
