Oil was illegally dumped into Two Medicine Irrigation Canal, a tributary of Cut Bank Creek, Montana. The source of the oil was determined to be Sheriff Well 1-11H, owned and operated by Newfield Exploration and located less than 2 miles from the Two Medicine Irrigation Canal. Newfield sent crews to clean the oil from the canal but snow and ice made confirmation of the cleanup difficult. The Blackfeet Environmental Office and EPA OSC Curtis Kimbel will reconvene at the site in June 2014 to confirm the oil has been completely cleaned up.
