EPA Remedial Branch alerted the Removal Branch to high levels of leachate in the settling ponds at DSC. The OSC visited the site on 3/17/16 and observed extremely high levels of leachate in the ponds, dangerously close to overflowing and enter an on-site drainage ditch that leads directly to the Frank & Poet Drain, a tributary of the Detroit River. Field screening equipment (YSI) verified the pH at the leachate outfall of 12.51 standard units.
The OSC mobilized ERRS and began removing leachate on 3/18/16.
