Emerging Oil Transportation Preparedness

 

This web site will be utilized to share information related to planning, response, training, and exercises related to Emerging Oil Rail Transportation Issues in Region 5.

The Transportation Rail Incidents Preparedness and Response (TRIPR), Flammable Liquid Unit Trains training was developed to provide critical information on best practices related to rail incidents involving hazard class 3 flammable liquids, such as Crude Oil and Ethanol. A key component of this initiative is to learn from past experiences and to leverage the expertise of public safety agencies, rail carriers, and industry subject matter experts in order to prepare first responders to safely manage incidents involving flammable liquids unit trains.

A crude oil training was conducted on February 11-12, 2016 in Stevens Point, WI. 50 first responders attended the training.

A crude oil train derailment tabletop exercise was conducted on March 3, 2016 in Oak Lawn, Illinois. 75 first responders attended the exercise.

TRIPR training was conducted on March 15, 2016 at the Bowling Green State University in Ohio. 220 first responders attended the training.

A crude oil train derailment tabletop exercise was held in Rockford, IL on April 12-13, 2016. 75 first responders attended the exercise.

TRIPR training was conducted on April 28, 2016 at the Prairie Island Indian Community in Welch, MN. 65 first responders attended the training.

TRIPR training was conducted on June 20, 2016 at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. 66 first responders attended the training.

TRIPR training was conducted on August 24, 2016 at the Red Baron Arena in Marshall, MN. 98 first responders attended the training.

A crude oil tabletop exercise was held on August 30, 2016 in DuPage County, IL. 168 first responders attended the event.

TRIPR training was conducted on October 5, 2016 in Moorhead, MN. 54 first responders attended the training.

TRIPR training was conducted on November 30, 2016 in Albany, NY. 120 first responders attended the training

TRIPR training was conducted on December 14, 2016 in Indianapolis, IN. 61 first responders attended the training.

TRIPR training was conducted on January 25, 2017 in Detroit, MI. 400 first responders attended the training.

TRIPR training was conducted on February 15, 2017 in Stevens Point, WI. 81 first responders attended the training.

TRIPR training was conducted on March 7, 2017 in Wisconsin Dells, WI. 44 first responders attended the training.

TRIPR training was conducted on May 23, 2017 in St. Louis, MO. 80 first responders attended the training.

TRIPR training is scheduled for September 29-30 in Oak Forest (Chicago), IL. 140 first responders attended the training.
