On August 27, 2007, the National Response Center notified the United States Coast Guard (USCG) of a truck transport spill in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas. Also, the State of Texas Emergency Operations Center notified EPA of the incident. A truck transport owned by Enterprise Transport was reported to have had a vehicular accident at the northbound exit ramp at the intersection of Interstate Highway 37 (I-37) and U.S. Highway 181 (US-181), rupturing the tanker and discharging approximately 6000 gallons of fuel oil.

The fuel oil spilled is threatening to flow into storm sewer inlets that leads directly into Corpus Christi Bay. Although a small amount of fuel oil did get into the storm sewer, the Corpus Christi Fire Department responded and constructed berms to contain the oil. The area is experiencing rain showers, which threaten to further exacerbate the situation.

EPA has mobilized OSC Leos and the EPA Superfund Technical Assessment and Response Team (START) to the site.
